Reducing retail crime. Retain crime remains both a local and national priority.

Bury Community Team have a dedicated retail crime SPOC. The Community Team will visit every victim of retail crime, provide support and guidance in respect to crime prevention and support with digital upload of CCTV. In the months of May and June the community team have had a 60% solvability rate where a positive disposal, such as: charge, conditional caution or community resolution have been administered. We continue to work with partners and local businesses to ensure Bury St Edmunds continues to thrive for local businesses.

Reports of vehicle anti-social behaviour in the Town Centre and Moreton Hall area of Bury St Edmunds.

The Community Team will be completing enforcement action in respect to those who decide to use their vehicles in an anti-social manner, make illegal modifications to their vehicles and drive in a manner than endangers other road users. The Community Team will work with our colleagues in the Road Policing Department and West Suffolk Council in tackling this issue.

Night-time economy Policing continues to be an important role for Policing in ensuring public safety and ensuring early intervention in prevent disorder.

The Community Team, Response Investigation Team and Town Centre Team will be conducting high visibility foot patrols in key areas, such as St Andrews Street, Risbygate Street and The Cornhill on Friday and Saturday nights. They will engage with licensees and door staff to ensure public safety is maximised and take a zero-tolerance approach to violence and disorder.
