Inspector Ben Hollands has served as a Police Officer for 26 years, gaining extensive experience across a range of roles and ranks at local, regional, and national levels. He currently holds the position of Locality Inspector for Bury St Edmunds, where he leads and manages Community Policing within the area. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing neighbourhood policing teams, building strong partnerships with local stakeholders, and ensuring that policing strategies are responsive to the needs of the community. His work focuses on promoting public safety, reducing crime, and fostering trust between the police and the public.
Sgt Nettleton is one of the Community Policing Team Sgts for Bury St Edmunds, covering Abbeygate, Westgate, Southgate, Minden, Moreton Hall and Eastgate Wards and the villages within Bury Rural South.
PC 484 Manley is the Community Beat Officer for Moreton Hall and Eastgate Ward.
PC 1704 Bond is the Community Beat Officer for Abbeygate and Minden Ward.
PCSO Pooley covers Minden, Westgate, Southgate, Abbeygate, Eastgate and Moreton Hall along with the villages in Bury Rural South.
PCSO Whiting is one of our Bury Town Council funded PCSOs covering Abbeygate Ward.
PCSO Ellis is one of our Bury Town Council funded PCSOs covering the eight town center wards.
PC Carr-Maskell is the Community Beat Officer for Southgate and Westgate Ward.
PC 393 Williams is the Community Beat Officer for Abbeygate Ward and is the retail crime point of contact for the team.
Bury St Edmunds Town Centre has persistently been subject to high levels of alcohol related anti-social behaviour. The impact of this being felt by both the public, partners and local business owners. Whilst over the last two years significant work and success has been identified this still remains a local priority.

A spike is reported retail crime, both locally and nationally continues to feature. This is both in our urban and rural areas of Bury St Edmunds.

Police will be engaging and supporting businesses in Bury St Edmunds to identify repeat offenders, provide crime prevention advice, and take appropriate action. The Community Team continue to work with the Business Improvement District, utilising the platform of Shop Safe to support targeted activity. The Community Team have been successful in obtaining two Criminal Behaviour Orders to tackle the most persistent offenders. An adult male has recently been convicted as a result of a breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order, where he has entered a retail premises he is prohibited from. This male will serve 18 weeks in prison.
