Appeal after oil theft in Hitcham

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of heating oil in Hitcham.
The incident occurred on The Causeway, B1115, between 18 April and 28 April, while the homeowner was away.
The resident returned to find their tank had been emptied, having only recently been filled.
Homeowners are advised to take steps to protect their properties and oil tanks, with guidance found on the Suffolk police website. These tips include:
- Hide the location of the tank
- Secure the oil tank within a cage
- Install lockable gates
- Fit an electronic gauge, which can activate an alarm when the oil level drops
- Fit security lights near to the oil tank location
- Fit CCTV cameras
