A 32-year-old man is due to appear in court today, after another man was injured following an incident in Bury St Edmunds.
Police were called at 3:18am on Sunday, 31 May, to reports that a man in his 40s had been assaulted at the BP petrol station shop, Rougham Road.
Following a verbal altercation the victim was hit with a glass bottle, causing multiple lacerations which required hospital treatment.
A short time after the incident officers located the suspect on Southgate Street. The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicious of causing grievous bodily harm and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Mohammed Sharif, of Plaistow Park Road in east London, has subsequently been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 2 June.
