Explosives
For new applications, renewals and to obtain explosives for use in firearms and shotguns, please see our guidance below:
- To apply for the grant or renewal of an explosives certificate to obtain explosives for use in firearms and shotguns, or for re-enactment purposes, you need to complete Explosives Form ER/4A.
- To apply for the renewal of an explosives certificate for explosives for use in firearms or shotguns you will need to complete Explosives Form ER/4B.
- An individual or a corporate body who wishes to apply for the grant or renewal of an explosives certificate to either acquire explosives, or acquire and keep them other than as per the above, you will need to complete Explosives Form ER/4.
- If more than one person will have access to the explosives the Declaration of Persons Letter must be completed and handed to all those listed in Annex 2 to the application form. There may be a cost implication for the grant of such a certificate and details of fees are variable. Please contact the Firearms Licensing Department for further details.
- For the storage of explosives you will need to complete an ER/2 Application for a licensed store in order to store explosives under this legislation. Guidance notes on the completion of the form can be found on the last page of the application. The fees for the storage of explosives are variable dependent upon quantities.
