Sizewell Nuclear Power Station currently has two power stations. A new nuclear power station, Sizewell C, is under development.
The main development site for Sizewell C is located on the Suffolk coast, immediately to the north-east of Leiston and approximately halfway between Felixstowe and Lowestoft. Suffolk Constabulary is looking to increase its roads policing team to provide the additional policing requirements as a result of the project.
We are seeking applications from officers to join a roads policing team specifically dedicated to the Sizewell project.
Watch a video about the Sizewell project and our needs.
Suffolk Constabulary is a highly regarded police force that has consistently received good inspection reports. We are innovative, forward thinking and take an evidence-based approach to policing. We are proud of our workforce and equally proud to police the variety that is the county of Suffolk. The county is full of differences, from vibrant towns to some of Britain’s most sought after coastal resorts, part of a coastline stretching for 50 miles. There is something for everyone no matter what your and your family’s interests are; live music festivals, historic towns, idyllic coastal towns and plenty of beautiful places for outdoor activities.

Whilst the team’s primary focus will be the timely movement of AILs for the Sizewell C development, the team will also ensure the safe use of those roads used by Sizewell C traffic (be this HGVs, LGVs or the Sizewell C workforce) by dealing with road-related incidents and fatal four enforcement and investigation of road traffic collisions (RTCs).
The team will operate out of police headquarters in Martlesham and Halesworth. It will comprise of fourteen police constables and two sergeants, consisting of thirteen motorcyclists and three car drivers, and ideally all officers will hold a full motorcycle licence.
