A 28-year-old woman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 54-year-old man in Lowestoft.
Officers were called to Sparrow’s Nest Gardens in the town at 10.13pm on Friday 20 March. On arrival officers found a man, who was unresponsive. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man was later declared deceased.
A Home Office post-mortem examination took place yesterday, Saturday 11 March, the outcome of which is that the cause of death is pending further investigation.
Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings the deceased has been identified as Gary Grant, aged 54, from Lowestoft. The victim’s family members are being support by specialist officers.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Amber Stebbings, of no fixed address, has subsequently been charged with murder. She has been remanded in custody to appear before Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 23 March.
This is being treated as an isolated incident and the parties involved are understood to have been known to each other.
A police scene put in place at the location of the incident has now been lifted.
Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information. This includes anyone driving in the area around the time that may have a dash camera. Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk police quoting crime reference 37/16062/26, via:

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident in Lowestoft.

The incident is being treated as a murder investigation.
The family of the deceased have been made aware.
