Three people charged following stabbing incident in Stowmarket

Three people have been charged in connection with a stabbing in Stowmarket.

Police were called to the recreation ground on Finborough Road by the East of England Ambulance Service just before 8:30pm yesterday, Tuesday 21 April, following reports that a 16-year-old boy had sustained stab injuries.

It was reported that three suspects approached the victim, before making off on foot.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance crew attended the scene and the boy was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

The suspects were arrested a short time later at Stowmarket train station.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have subsequently been charged as follows:

Tyler Arnold, aged 18 and of Landseer Road in Ipswich, has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to commit robbery.

A 17-year-old boy from Ipswich was charged with assault causing GBH, conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a controlled class B drug, namely cannabis.

A 16-year-old boy from Ipswich was also charged with assault causing GBH, conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a bladed article, namely a zombie knife, in a public place.

The group have been remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 23 April.

Officers will be conducting further searches in the local area today to locate the weapon used in the attack, believed to be a large knife.

Detectives continue to appeal to local residents living between the skate park and Stowmarket train station (Finborough Road, Tavern Street, Iliffe Way, Wilkes Way, Station Road and surrounding roads) to check their gardens and bins for any items that may have been discarded.

Should residents uncover items that are believed to be suspicious, police are asking them not to touch the item and to leave it in situ for officers to collect.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Stowmarket, where a teenage boy was stabbed.

Officers were called to the recreation ground on Finborough Road by the East of England Ambulance Service just before 8:30pm yesterday, Tuesday 21 April, following reports that a teenage boy had sustained stab injuries.

It was reported that three suspects approached the victim, before making off on foot.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance crew attended the scene and the boy was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Following enquiries, three suspects (an 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy) were located at Stowmarket train station a short time later and arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

They have been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they remain.

Officers will be conducting searches in the local area today, Wednesday 22 April, namely between the skate park and Stowmarket train station (Finborough Road, Tavern Street, Station Road) looking for the weapon used in attack, described as a large knife.

Detectives are appealing to local residents to also check their gardens and bins for any items that may have been discarded that may assist police with their enquiries.

Should residents uncover items that are believed to be suspicious, police are asking them not to touch the item and to leave it in situ for officers to collect.
