A 20-year-old man has been charged after an incident at a funfair in Haverhill.

Police were called at just after 6.10pm on Friday 2 May, to reports that a boy had sustained stab wounds on the Recreation Ground off Camps Road.

The suspect of the stabbing is then alleged to have been assaulted himself, sustaining a kick to the head.

The victim of the stabbing, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

Two people – aged 20 and 22 - were subsequently arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Following police enquiries into the incident, there was a further allegation that a 12-year-old boy had been punched prior to the stabbing.

  • Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • Assault by beating
  • Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place (namely a kitchen knife)
  • Possession of a knife blade in a public place (namely a pocket knife with a blade exceeding three inches)

Parrinello has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 5 May.

A 22-year-old man from Haverhill – who was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm - has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
