Ipswich – four men charged with drugs offences

Four men from Ipswich have been charged with drugs offences following a series of drugs warrants in Ipswich.

The warrants took place on Tuesday 1 July in Ipswich and the surrounding area, with a total of four people arrested.

During the warrants a large amount of suspected cocaine was located and seized, along with a significant amount of cannabis.

Following their arrests four men were charged as follows:

John Leighton, 35, of New Cut East, Ipswich:

• Conspiracy to produce a quantity of cannabis a controlled drug of Class B.

• Being concerned in the supply of a controlled Class A drug
• Acquiring / using / possessing criminal property, namely cash and bank transfers.

Robin Southgate, 55, Portland Way, Great Blakenham:

• Conspiracy to produce a quantity of cannabis
• Acquiring / using / possessing criminal property, namely cash and bank transfers.

Dean Yule, 52, of Kemball Street, Ipswich:

• Conspiracy to produce a quantity of cannabis
• Being concerned in the supply of a controlled Class A drug
• Acquiring / using / possessing criminal property, namely cash and bank transfers.

Michael Harty, 55, formerly of Romford, Essex:

• Conspiracy to produce a quantity of cannabis
• Acquiring / using / possessing criminal property, namely cash and bank transfers.

All four appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Thursday 3 July and will next appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 31 July. Southgate, Harty and Yule were remanded in custody by the court, while Leighton was bailed with conditions.
