A man from Sudbury has been sentenced for indecent images and sexual communication offences.
Mark Brooks of Elm Road in Sudbury and aged 21 was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to five counts of making incident images of a child and one count of sexual communication with a child. He was charged with the offences in November last year.
At Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday 13 February he was given a two year community order, 200 hours unpaid work, GPS monitoring for six months with exclusion from victim’s village, a restraining order for three years preventing any contact with the victim. He was also put on the sex offenders register for five years and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five year as well
After the victim’s mother raised concerns with the police, an investigation began and established that Brooks was communicating with the victim, who was under 16 at the time, via phone on Snapchat between 24 August 2023 and 27 September 2023.
Investigating officer DC Scott Swallow said: “The victim went missing and was located at the address of Brooks and this lead to the arrest of him, where digital evidence found on his mobile phone showed sexual communication and multiple indecent images of the child. He continued to breach bail conditions by staying in contact with the child and on 10 November 2024 he was located at the child’s address, where he was then arrested and remanded to prison.”
