A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Felixstowe.
Officers attended an incident in the town on Saturday 10 August after being called by the ambulance service at 9.21pm to a report of an assault with one person believed to have been injured.
The incident is reported to have taken place at around 9.20pm on the seafront promenade by Undercliff Road West. The injured man would have been seen with his dog, a brown and white Staffordshire bull terrier and boxer crossbreed.
Police were then called by the ambulance service at 10.30am on Sunday 11 August to a property in Carr Road where the injured party had been found dead.
The man has been identified as Charlie Stephen David Greaves, 25, from Ipswich.
On Monday 12 August officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Felixstowe on suspicion of murder.
He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being bailed.
Daniel Martin, 28, of Felix Road, Felixstowe, was charged yesterday, 5 September, with murder. He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 6 September.
Officers continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed an altercation or who has any information about the man’s death to contact police. This includes anyone with CCTV or a video doorbell between Ranelagh road and Undercliff Road West, or that may have been driving in the area between 8.30pm and 9.20pm on 10 August that may have a dash camera.

The family of a man who died following an incident on the seafront in Felixstowe the previous evening have paid tribute to him.
Police were called by the ambulance service at just after 9.20pm on Saturday 10 August to a report of an assault on the promenade by Undercliff Road West, with one person believed to have been injured.
The injured man would have been seen with his dog, a brown and white Staffordshire bull terrier and boxer crossbreed.
Police were then called by the ambulance service at 10.30am the following morning (Sunday 11 August) to a property in Carr Road where the injured party had been found deceased.
Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, he has been identified as Charlie Stephen David Greaves, aged 25 and from Ipswich.
The preliminary results of a Home Office post-mortem examination indicated the cause of death as being a traumatic head injury, pending further investigation.
Officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Felixstowe on Monday 12 August on suspicion of murder. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently bailed to return to police on 7 October.
Charlie Greaves’ family have asked us to issue the following tribute on their behalf:
“Charlie was an affable young man who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“He had been with his partner for eight years and loved to go on holiday with his family. He doted on his grandparents and would help to care for them.
“His pet Princess was a rescue dog that he had acquired about nine months ago and she had brought him a great deal of joy. He also loved to cook and play his music loud.
“He had a heart bigger than Ipswich and loved to chat – he would talk to anyone and everyone. He made an impact on the lives of everyone he met.
“He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.”

Officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Felixstowe yesterday evening, Monday 12 August, on suspicion of murder.
He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he currently remains.
Detective Inspector Mark Hughes said: “Investigations into the man’s death continue. Detectives are making enquiries, looking into the circumstances of the altercation and identifying those in the area at the time that may be able to assist with the investigation.
“We would like to hear from anyone that might have witnessed an assault on the seafront or who might have any information that could help us in our enquiries.
“It is important to note that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to members of the public.”

Police are investigating following the death of a man in Felixstowe.
Officers were called by the ambulance service at 10.30am on Sunday 11 August to a property in Carr Road where a man aged in his 20s had been found dead.
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained with a Home Office post-mortem examination to be carried out.
As part of these enquiries, officers are also investigating an altercation and assault that is reported to have taken place in the town.
The incident is believed to have happened around 9.20pm on Saturday 10 August on the seafront promenade by Undercliff Road West.
A police cordon remains in place at an address in Carr Road while enquiries are ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
