Three men have been jailed for drugs offences in Ipswich.

Two were detained by officers of Suffolk Police’s Sentinel South team who stopped a car with no insurance in the Hadleigh area in April 2024. Following searches and examinations of their phones and subsequently a hotel in Ipswich, Antonio Dimitrov and Aleks Dimitrov were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of cocaine. A third man staying there, Penko Pishmishev, was also arrested.
The searches uncovered a quantity of cocaine, some found hidden in Aleks Dimitrov’s underwear, almost £1,500 in cash and a passport belonging to another man convicted of supplying drugs in Ipswich.
When interviewed, Antonio Dimitrov, residing in Ipswich at the time of his arrest, admitted he had been concerned in the supply of cocaine in Ipswich but claimed this was against his will. Aleks Dimitrov, of Tolworth Broadway, Surbiton, claimed the cocaine found in his underwear was for his personal use and that he was not involved in the supply of drugs in Ipswich.
Pishmishev, residing in Ipswich, also claimed cocaine found in his room was for personal use and denied involvement in the supply of drugs or that the cash found was the proceeds of crime.
All three men were charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and remanded in custody. They were further remanded by Ipswich Magistrates and appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on 11th July, where all three pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
They were back at court for sentencing on 18th October. Each received a 24-month jail term. The Court ordered that the drugs and phones should be destroyed and that the £1,455 in cash seized should be forfeited under Section 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Sgt Dave Logan, of the Sentinel South team said: “Our investigation shows that each of these males was working for an organised crime group and came to Suffolk simply to sell drugs, they have not given any positive contribution to Suffolk. I am very mindful that organised groups often have links with other serious crimes and arrests like this frustrate their operations. It therefore remains a focus of my team and we will continue to identify, arrest and imprison those involved in this type of organised crime.”
The three Sentinel teams across the south, west and eastern areas of the county provide enhanced coverage of Suffolk’s road network to proactively disrupt serious and organised criminal activity as well as increase police visibility.
The mobile units disrupt criminals and protects communities across Suffolk’s road network using a variety of techniques to deal with offenders involved.
