Temporary closure notices were issued at two licensed premises within Ipswich over the weekend following drug related arrests.

A Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was executed at Waterlily in St Helen’s Street in the town on Saturday, 19 October.

Three men were arrested at the premises while a temporary closure notice was issued to the business. This ends at 7.30pm on 21 October.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply (PWITS) Class A drugs, and a 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of PWITS Class A drugs and possession of Class B or C drugs.

All three were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being bailed to return to police on 17 January.

Following the drugs warrant being executed, Suffolk Constabulary’s licensing team made an application to Ipswich Borough Council Licensing Committee to have the premise’s license reviewed as a matter of urgency.

A temporary closure notice was also issued to Supper Club in Tacket Street. This ends at 2pm on 22 October.

Officers were called to the venue at around 3.40am on Sunday 20 October following reports of an altercation in progress.

Three men were arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. He was subsequently bailed to return to police on 23 November.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault (actual bodily harm) and being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. He was bailed to return to police on 24 November.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and bailed to return to police on 26 November.

Suffolk Constabulary will now work closely with partners at Ipswich Borough Council’s Licensing team to investigate this accordingly.
