An 18-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other offences following a fatal collision in Felixstowe.
Emergency services were called shortly after 2.30pm on Tuesday 19 November, to reports of a collision between a white Nissan GTR and a pedestrian on Church Road.
Police, ambulance, East Anglian Air Ambulance and a paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) were all in attendance to the incident.
The pedestrian was taken to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulance for treatment where she sadly died.
Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the woman has been identified as Mary Kinsey, 74, from Felixstowe.
The driver of the Nissan, an 18-year-old man, was initially taken to hospital by officers for treatment. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Lewis Meadows, 18, of Cliff Road, Felixstowe, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a collision, using a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to report a collision.
He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 21 November.

A woman has died following a single-vehicle collision in Felixstowe.
Emergency services were called shortly after 2.30pm yesterday, Tuesday 19 November, to reports of a collision between a white Nissan GTR and a pedestrian on Church Road.
Police, ambulance, East Anglian Air Ambulance and a paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) all attended the incident.
The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 70s, was taken to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulance for treatment where she sadly died.
The driver of the Nissan, an 18-year-old man, was initially taken to hospital by officers for treatment. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance and failing to stop after a collision.
He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he currently remains.
The road was closed while emergency services attended and an investigation took place. The road has now reopened.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage.
