Bury St Edmunds – man jailed for breach of criminal behaviour order

A man has been jailed after pleading guilty to breaching a criminal behaviour order in Bury St Edmunds.
Darren Hodgeson, 56, of no fixed abode but from the Bury St Edmunds area was arrested on 9 September and subsequently charged with two counts of breaching an existing criminal behaviour order (CBO).
He appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12 November where he was sentenced to 18 weeks’ imprisonment.
PC Joe Nettleton said: “This investigation, arrest and subsequent conviction is part of local policing priority to tackle anti-social behaviour in Bury St Edmunds.
“Hodgeson’s and others' behaviour has a significant impact on the community, businesses and tourism. I am really pleased with this result which demonstrates our commitment to tackle these problems robustly.”
Criminal behaviour orders
The CBO is an order following a conviction that prohibits the offender from doing anything described in the order. This might include a condition preventing specific acts which cause harassment, alarm or distress or preparatory acts which the offending history shows are likely to lead to offences. It requires the offender to do anything described in the order.
