Three men have been jailed for a total of 52 years for attempted murder following an incident in Beccles in November last year.
Lewis Aldridge, aged 27 and of the Market Place in Southwold, Nathan Baker, aged 20 and of Quay Street in Halesworth and Daniel Hermon of Market Place in Southwold aged 26 were all found guilty by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court at an earlier hearing on 30 May.
Aldridge was jailed for 17 years for attempted murder and one year for possession of an offensive weapon, Baker was jailed for 17 years for attempted murder and Hermon was jailed for 18 years for attempted murder at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday 17 June.
It follows an incident that took place on Saturday 18 November 2023 at about 2.45am on London Road.
The victim, a man aged 53 was attacked by a group of people who emerged from a car. The victim was pulled to the floor, assaulted and then was driven over. Officers attended and found the male victim with serious injuries and he was taken to the James Paget hospital for treatment before being transferred to Addenbrookes for surgery and has since been discharged with life changing injuries.
Officers conducted initial enquiries and arrested and charged Baker and Hermon with attempted murder in November last year, whilst Aldridge was initially arrested in November and bailed and then was re-arrested in December and subsequently charged with attempted murder.
The court heard how the incident arose as a consequence of an earlier incident where a fight involving the victim had taken place in Beccles, earlier in the evening.
Det Sgt Adam Hitcham from Lowestoft CID said: “The duration of these robust sentences reflects the seriousness and gravity of the trio’s actions as well as the life changing injuries inflicted on the victim. Sentencing of this nature hopefully provides the victim with a sense of justice and closure”

The three were found guilty by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court today (Thursday 30 May).

Det Sgt Investigation Officer Adam Hitcham from Lowestoft CID said: “It was clear from the evidence gathered that this was a pre-meditated attack on the victim and executed with intent. After physically assaulting the victim, he was left helpless and lying on the floor with the Toyota Yaris vehicle then being used to inflict further life-threatening injuries to the victim’s torso and pelvis. The victim was extremely fortunate that he didn’t die because of this incident.
“The behaviour of the three defendants was intentional, malicious, and calculated with the victim left in a potentially fatal condition. The guilty verdict will provide closure on a traumatic ordeal for the victim and his family and ensures that three dangerous offenders are brought to justice”.
Sentencing will take place on Monday 17 June.
