A 42-year-old man has been charged in connection with the discovery of a cannabis factory in Sudbury on Wednesday.
Officers made the discovery at approximately 7:55pm on Wednesday 15 May in a unit at Chilton Industrial Estate on Addison Road.
On entering the premises, officers found a large cannabis grow over two floors.
Two male suspects were located within the premises, who fled the scene.
One of the suspects was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning; the second male remains outstanding.
Aurel Barpeerrja of no fixed abode has now been charged with the production of cannabis in contravention of section 4(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 between 1 May and 16 May 2024.
He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday 17 May, and has been remanded to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday 14 June.
It is thought in the region of around 1,000 were located in the premises.If you suspect drug dealing is taking place in your area or see anything suspicious or out of place, please tell us. You don’t have to be certain, just concerned.
The signs to spot of a cannabis factory include a strong or sickly-sweet smell in the air; buildings with windows constantly blocked off; high levels of heat and condensation and the constant buzz of ventilation. Such operations would most likely have people coming and going from an address at unsociable hours too.
