Police from Ipswich have held a partnership day of action in the Old Stoke area of town.
Officers from the Ipswich West Community Policing Team were joined by Ipswich Borough Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour officers on Tues 27 February as well as staff from environmental health, waste operatives, victim care services and parking enforcement.
A police stall was set up at the local shops with crime reduction advice leaflets to enable the local residents to attend and speak to police about their issues and concerns.
Police along with partner agencies also carried out house to house visits to identify local concerns and issues, while borough wate operatives cleared the streets and alleyways of broken glass, fly tipping and general waste.
The team spoke with around 150 people over a four hour period, two knives were located and destroyed, four fixed penalty notices were issued for traffic offences and one court summons was issued for fly tipping.
Inspector Ben Richards from Ipswich West and Hadleigh said: “This was a productive day of activity and just the type of professional and coordinated partnership working that reaps great results for the community. This came about as a consequence of the residents telling us the issues that they were experiencing in the area, we’ve responded by taking action and we have also gathered plenty of future intelligence.”
