Suffolk Police teams joined forces with a range of partners to undertake a community safety day in Leiston, carrying out checks on commercial vehicles, fly-tipping, licensed premises and residential fire safety.
Police also conducted highly visible foot patrols across the town during the day of action on Friday 28 June.
Six arrests were made for drug-driving, and other traffic offences recorded included speeding, driving without insurance, carrying an insecure load, not wearing a seatbelt and driving a vehicle without an MoT. Other speed check sites were monitored at Red House Lane, Knodishall and Saxmundham Road.
Officers worked with housing, waste, licensing, environmental protection and corporate fraud teams from East Suffolk Council, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service and East Suffolk Services.
Locality Inspector Liz Casey said: “Our impact day not only highlighted a number of areas of concern to residents but also provided a visible presence across the town. Of course, our work continues throughout the year but we were able to reassure people with our multi-agency work and deal with a wide range of offences. I would like to thank our partners and residents.”
