Police in Bury St Edmunds secured a series of arrests last night in separate incidents, demonstrating their proactive work tackling drug offences.
In the first incident officers arrested and charged a teenager with drug offences. They had reason to detain a male on Out Risbygate Street in the town last night (Thu 17 Jan) for a stop and search. During the search a suspected large wrap of cocaine was found on him.
Officers took the male to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for further questioning. A 15 year old from Essex was charged with two counts of possession of cannabis, being concerned with possession of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of cocaine. He was due to attend Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning (Fri 18 Jan).
Elsewhere in the town last night, officers arrested a 22 year old male on Tayfen Road on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was taken to Bury PIC for questioning and subsequently handed over immigration officials.
Finally, last night officers also conducted a welfare check on an individual following intelligence received. On entering the premises on Out Risbygate Street they arrested a 21 year old man on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
A subsequent search of property revealed in the region of 100 to 200 suspected drug wraps and a quantity of cash in the region of £2000. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he remains.
Sgt Joe Nettleton from Bury St Edmunds police said: “These arrests demonstrate the proactive nature of much of our work and how if we are given information we will respond and act. We will continue to pursue, disrupt and arrest as well as constantly gathering intelligence that members of the public provide and for which we are grateful for.”
