Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Yoxford.
Officers were called to the A12 shortly after 4:10pm today, Thursday 22 February, following reports of a two-vehicle collision which occurred between Middleton Road and Westleton Road.
It involved a bronze-coloured BMW X1 and a silver Volkswagen Golf.
Police, ambulance, air ambulance, and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were all in attendance to the incident.
The driver of the Golf – a woman aged in her 60s – was initially taken to James Paget Hospital via land ambulance but was later transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital with life threatening injuries, where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his 70s, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he failed a roadside drugs wipe test for suspected cannabis. He has been taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.
The A12 remains closed in both directions while collision investigation and recovery work continues.
