The Suffolk Constabulary Male Voice Choir have raised over £2,000 for local charity Jetty Lane thanks to donations at one of their concerts.
In late April, the Suffolk Constabulary Male Voice Choir organised and held the Spring Serenade concert at St Mary’s Church in Woodbridge. The choir were joined by special guests Mark Saberton, Baritone Soloist, and Strictly Celli, the complete cello section of the Ipswich Symphony Orchestra.
When the choir organise their own concert, they like to pick a local Suffolk Charity to support. For this particular concert, they selected Jetty Lane - a charity with the key aim of providing a site and buildings that enable partners to deliver creative opportunities to engage, unite and inspire local young people in the Suffolk coastal area to achieve our vision of promoting social and cultural connectedness and bringing our community together via arts, culture and wellbeing activities.
Throughout the concert, which was attend by around 240 people, attendees could donate towards Jetty Lane. In total, £2,750 was raised and donated to the charity – who were presented with the cheque by the choir in September.
A representative for the choir said: “More often than not, such charities do not have access to national funding, so any money we are able to raise is most welcome. We’re so pleased that the choir have been able to contribute to this amazing project in Woodbridge.”
