A 20-year-old man has been jailed after police officers detained a cyclist and found him in possession of drugs and money.
Klajdi Sula was stopped by officers of the Sentinel South team on 6th April in the Gatacre Road area of the town. He was arrested after failing to stop and a susbsequent drugs search.
A search of the address in Ipswich he was found to be living in at the time yielded another 120 pouches of cannabis and more than £4,500 in cash. He was charged and remanded in custody.
Sula appeared before Ipswich Magistrates on 6th August and admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis from 7th March until his arrest and possession of the proceeds of crime.
He was sentenced to 10 months’ detention for each of his offences to be served concurrently.
The court ordered that the £4,540 in cash seized should be forfeited and paid into a fund held by Suffolk Police to assist in combatting further drug crime.
Sentinel South investigator Rob Ostler said: “Our team works hard to keep residents safe and we are pleased that Sula has been jailed for drug dealing and is now out of action.”
The three Sentinel teams across the south, west and eastern areas of the county provide enhanced coverage of Suffolk’s road network to proactively disrupt serious and organised criminal activity as well as increase police visibility.
