Further arrests have been made and three people have been charged following a serious assault in which a man was stabbed in Newmarket.
Police were called at 5.53pm, Wednesday 10 April, to reports of an incident within the car park at Market Square, The Rookery, in the town.
A man, aged in his 20s, was approached by a group of four males before being attacked.
The victim sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Following the incident five people have been arrested.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Monday 15 April on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm in relation to 10 April and on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm in relation to an incident on 8 April. He was questioned by officers at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and subsequently charged.
Sonnie Bishop-Browne, 21, of Dick Perryman Court, Newmarket, was subsequently charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place in relation to 10 April. He was also charged with assault causing actual bodily harm in relation to an incident on 8 April.
He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 17 April.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Thursday 11 April on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Georgie Bishop, 19, of Dick Perryman Court, Newmarket, was subsequently charged with wounding with intent and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place. He was also charged with assault causing actual bodily harm in relation to a separate incident that took place on 8 April.
He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 13 April and was remanded in custody to next appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 13 May.
An 18-year-old woman was arrested on 13 April on suspicion of assault and questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
Alisha Gentle, 18, of Exning Road, Newmarket was subsequently charged with using threatening words or behaviour to cause alarm or distress on 10 April. Gentle was also charged with assault causing actual bodily harm in relation to an incident on 8 April.
She appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 13 April and was bailed to next appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 13 May.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Haverhill on Wednesday 10 April on suspicion of assisting offenders. She was taken to Bury Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently bailed to return to police on 2 July.
A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on 11 April on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was subsequently bailed to return to police on 2 July.

The victim sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Following the incident three people have been arrested.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Haverhill on Wednesday 10 April on suspicion of assisting offenders. She was taken to Bury Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently bailed to return to police on 2 July.

A man has suffered serious injuries following a stabbing in Newmarket.
Police were called at 5.53pm yesterday, Wednesday 10 April, to reports of an incident within the car park at The Rookery.
It is believed that a man, aged in his 20s, was approached by a group of four males before being attacked. The victim sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A woman was arrested in Haverhill on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police believe this is a contained incident involving a group of people who are known to each other. Enquiries continue and officers are seeking to locate and arrest the suspects.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV or a doorbell camera or who may have been driving on the area at the time and has relevant dash-camera footage.
