A man has died following a serious road traffic collision in Ipswich.
Emergency services were called to the Copdock roundabout just after 4:30am today, Sunday 21 April, following reports that a fuel tanker travelling on the northbound A12 had overturned on the slip road to the roundabout.
Police, Suffolk Fire and Rescue, National Highways, the Environment Agency and the East of England ambulance service are all in attendance to the incident, which remains ongoing.
The driver of the tanker, a man aged in his 50s, was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
Formal identification is yet to take place and the next of kin is being kept informed of developments and supported by specialist officers.
The A12 remains closed in both directions between J32B Capel St Mary and J55 of the A14, the Copdock Interchange; the Copdock roundabout remains fully closed.
The closures are expected to continue for some time and motorists are advised that diversions are in place.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
