A 23 year old man has been jailed for drug and driving offences following a stop in Stowmarket.
Luis Hoxhaj of no fixed abode but from the Stowmarket area was jailed at Ipswich Crown Court to 20 months in prison on Thursday 20 December after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply drugs, namely cocaine.
On the 9 August 2023, police had reason to stop his vehicle he was driving, a Renault Megane, on Thorney Way in Stowmarket after officers saw him pull out n front of two other vehicles.
A Misuse of Drugs Act search was conducted and four small bags containing cocaine were recovered from the vehicle in the boot. £450 in cash was also found in his trouser pockets and a further bag of cocaine was uncovered in between the centre console of the car and the driver’s seat. He was also unable to provide details of vehicle owner, nor could he provide licence and was not showing as having car insurance.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police investigation Centre for questioning and subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply drugs, driving with no licence or insurance and also possession of criminal property, namely £450.
