Police are now able to name a man whose body was found in the River Gipping in Ipswich on Saturday 16 December.
Pending formal Coroner’s inquest proceedings, the deceased has been provisionally identified as Julian De Bono, aged 63, from Ipswich.
Julian had last been seen in the early hours of Sunday 10 December in Ipswich.
Extensive searches took place last week and on Saturday afternoon (16 December) specialist underwater teams discovered the body of a man.
A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday, 18 December. While the Home Office Pathologist awaits the results of the toxicology before formally confirming cause of death, early indications are consistent with drowning. Police are not treating the death as suspicious and there are no indications of any third-party involvement.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Julian’s disappearance and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Police searching for missing person Julian De Bono have discovered a body.
The body was found by underwater search teams in the River Gipping in Ipswich. They made the discovery just after 3pm this afternoon (Saturday 16 December).
While the body hasn’t yet been formally identified, the family of Julian De Bono have been informed.
A post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death which is currently being treated as unexplained.

Searches continue as officers look to locate missing Ipswich man Julian De Bono who was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Julian was last seen on Yarmouth Road at around 1.55am on Sunday 10 December heading towards London Road.
He was dropped off by a taxi on Lloyd’s Avenue at around 12.30am on 10 December and was seen still in that area at around 12.37am. He was then further seen heading towards St Matthew’s roundabout, (the junction between St Matthew’s Street and Civic Drive) before finally being seen on Yarmouth Road walking in the direction of London Road, with a final sighting at around 1.55am.
Julian is described as black, around 6ft 1ins tall and of a slim build. He has a receding hair line, with a trimmed grey and black beard, and was last seen wearing a white, partially see-through shirt, with cherry red trousers and high shine black shoes.
Officers, supported by Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue, have been carrying out enquiries, including in the Yarmouth Road area. These have included conducting house-to-house enquiries and CCTV searches.
Searches have and continue to take place in and around the river as well as the wider area of where Julian was last seen.
This has involved the use of drones, small craft on the water and physically entering the water. A dive team is due to arrive tomorrow to provide specialist support.
Chief Inspector Richard Burton said: “We are extremely concerned for Julian and police activity including searches continue as we attempt to locate him.
“We have been working with Julian’s family and keeping them up to date with our efforts so far and this will continue.
“Once again we would ask anyone that has any information, no matter how small you may think it is, to please contact us so that we can look into this further.”
As searches continue for Julian, officers are asking anyone who has seen him or who has any information on where he may be to contact Suffolk Police on 101. This includes anyone that has CCTV or a video doorbell within the Yarmouth Road area, or anyone that was driving in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning that may have dash-cam footage.
