Update – Saxmundham stabbing

A man arrested in connection with a stabbing in Saxmundham has been released on bail, as enquiries into the incident continue.

Police were called at approximately 10.20pm on Tuesday 15 November to reports that a man had been assaulted in Mayflower Avenue.

The victim, a man aged 19, sustained stab wounds in his back, arms and sides. He remains in hospital in a stable condition and continues to receive treatment.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at approximately 4am on Wednesday 16 November and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has subsequently been released on bail until Monday 13 February, pending further enquires.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact East CID at Lowestoft Police Station, quoting reference: 37/72911/22.
