Two teenagers arrested following Ipswich assault

Two teenage boys have been arrested after a man was assaulted in Ipswich.

Police were called by members of the public at approximately 4pm yesterday, Saturday 6 August, reporting a man had been injured with a machete on the grounds of the Gainsborough Sports Centre on Braziers Wood Road by a group of males wearing balaclavas. The suspects then fled the scene on foot via the car park.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment, having sustained wounds to his arm and hip, but has since been discharged. 

Shortly before 6pm yesterday police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. A short time later, at approximately 8pm, a 15-year-old boy was also arrested. Both boys have been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned by detectives.

The individuals concerned are thought to be known to each other.
