Men jailed for drug offences

Two men have been sentenced after pleading guilty to drug-related offences.

Rhys Shekleton, 30, from Sutherland Road in London, and Glyn Shekleton, 24, of Sutherland Road in London, were sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, 10 June.

The pair were arrested on 29 January after a warrant was carried out a property in Cranley Green, Eye, in which drugs, cash and mobile phones were found.

They were subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and cocaine, as well as being concerned in the supply of cocaine, cannabis and ketamine between 2016 and 2021.

Glyn Shekleton was also charged with possessing cocaine and cannabis and obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty.

At an earlier hearing both men pleaded guilty to the charges.

Rhys Shekleton was given a 42-month custodial sentence, while Glyn Shekleton was jailed for 38 months.

Following the sentencing PC Steve Brown from the East Scorpion team said: “It is very pleasing to see that two people who have been involved in bringing such misery to our streets will now be locked up for a considerable time.

“The damage caused by drugs is no secret and often disproportionately harms Suffolk’s most vulnerable residents.

“Suffolk Constabulary remains committed to tackling those involved in drug supply.”

The supply and dealing of illegal drugs will not be tolerated and residents can be reassured that any information passed to police will be acted on.

Anyone concerned about drug related activity in their neighbourhood should contact police on 101, or you can provide any information anonymously by calling the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
