Man charged after Lowestoft assault

Police have charged a man in connection with an incident of grievous bodily harm in Lowestoft.

It took place on the High Street in the early hours of Saturday 11 September at about 1.35am.

The victim, a man aged in his late 30s, was assaulted causing a head injury. The victim, then walked away with another male and then called police to report the incident and received treatment at hospital.

Officers made enquiries and arrested a man on Wednesday 18 November and he was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

30 year old Matthew Knights of Harebell Way in Lowestoft was charged with unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to do him grievous bodily harm, using or threatening unlawful violence towards another and possession of a knife.

He was remanded to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today (Friday 19 November).
