Man arrested for drug offences - Ipswich

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with drug offences in Ipswich.

At approximately 10:30am on Tuesday, 13 July, police had cause to conduct a stop and search of a white Toyota Corolla on Bramford Road, under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

At police request for identification, the man produced an image of a driver’s licence on his phone, suspected of being counterfeit. Communication on the phone was also consistent with an involvement in the supply of class A drugs.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of a counterfeit document with intent to deceive, and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where his fingerprints were taken and his true identity exposed. A check of police records also showed him to be disqualified from driving until April 2022.

A Section 18 search authority was then granted for the man’s residence where officers recovered a large quantity of cash, a number of identification documents in different names and a substantial quantity of cocaine that has an estimated street value of £3,120.

Armir Dyrmishaj, of Bramford Road Ipswich, was subsequently charged with the following:

  • possession of class A drugs, namely cocaine, with intent to supply
  • being concerned in supplying class A drugs
  • possession of identity documents with the intent to deceive
  • driving whilst disqualified
  • obstructing a police officer
  • possession of criminal property

Dyrmishaj appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday 14 July where he was remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on 11 August 2021.
