Ipswich – Sudden death update

Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman’s body in Ipswich can confirm that the death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Police were called by the ambulance service just before 3.30am this morning, Thursday 25 February, reporting that paramedics were in attendance at a sudden death at a flat in Foundry Lane.

On arrival at the scene, officers found a woman aged in her 60s was deceased inside the flat.

A 55-year-old man from Ipswich was initially arrested on suspicion of murder and he was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

A Home Office Post-Mortem was completed this evening and the initial conclusions are that the woman died as a result of natural causes.

The 55-year-old man was subsequently released from police custody and will face no further action.

A man has been arrested in connection with an unexplained death in Ipswich. 

Police were called by the ambulance service just before 3.30am this morning, Thursday 25 February, reporting that paramedics were in attendance at a sudden death at a flat in Foundry Lane. 

On arrival at the scene, officers found a woman aged in her 60s was deceased inside the flat. 

The death is currently being treated as suspicious and a 55-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. 

The victim and suspect were known to each other.
