Ipswich - Man jailed for attempted theft

A 26 year old man had been jailed for six months for attempted theft in Ipswich.
It follows an incident in the town on Saturday 5 September on Martin Road where a 61 year old woman was the almost had her hand bag stolen. 
She was walking along Martin Road at about 7pm when she was approached from behind with an attempt made to snatch her handbag.
As the handbag was wrapped round her hand he was unable to take the bag and left the scene. The woman was shaken but unhurt. Following police enquiries a man was arrested later in the evening and taken to Marltesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
26 year old Alexandru Hoitu of Pauline Street in Ipswich was charged. At Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday 7 September he plead guilty at and received 26 weeks in jail and paid £128 compensation to victim which she has kindly offered to donate to a police charity of her choice.
