Felixstowe – Appeal following an attempted fraud
Police are appealing for witnesses or information following an attempted fraud in Felixstowe.
The incident took place at around 10am on Tuesday 30 June when two men tried to convince an elderly woman in Yeoman Road, Felixstowe to hand over £7,000.
The offenders knocked on the woman’s door and offered to fix her roof, which they claimed had a hole in it. They requested £7,000 in cash to carry out the repair, driving the victim to the TSB bank in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.
Staff at the bank became suspicious when the victim made the request and called police at around 12.25pm. Officers attended but the men had left the area.
The men are described as white, of medium height and build, with short hair. They were driving a white van.
Police are urging people to be cautious before parting with their money or personal information, and to warn elderly relatives and neighbours about cold callers and rogue traders.
