Fatal collision – A12 Blythburgh

Police can confirm a man has died following a road traffic collision on the A12 in Blythburgh 

Emergency services were called just before 7.30pm yesterday, Thursday 25 May, to reports of a two-vehicle collision near the A145 junction involving a motorbike and a stationary van.

The motorcyclist – a man aged in his 20s - sadly died at the scene.

The road was closed to allow officers to conduct initial investigations into the cause of the collision and reopened at approximately 2:50am this morning, Friday 26 May.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward, along with anyone driving in the area just prior to the incident who has a dashcam in their vehicle. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting CAD 387 of 25 May.

Police are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision at Blythburgh.

Emergency services were called at just before 7.30pm this evening (Thur 25 May) to a report of a two vehicle RTC on the A12 at Blythburgh.

The road is currently closed in both directions to allow officers to conduct initial investigations into the cause. The road is likely to remain shut for the foreseeable future and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Suffolk police quoting CAD number 387 of 25 May 2023.
