Cordon lifted at Bridgewood Road in Woodbridge

The army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team have conducted a controlled explosion on unknown chemicals discovered at a property in Woodbridge.

A 50 metre cordon was imposed on a property on Bridgewood Road in Woodbridge. It follows the discovery late this morning (21 Oct) of unknown chemicals by police search teams in the property.

Around 30 properties were evacuated as a precaution to ensure the public’s safety. EOD were called and following enquiries removed the item from the premises to conduct a controlled explosion at 3pm.

Cordons have now been lifted and the road reopened with residents now able to return to their properties.

Officers thank local residents for their patience and understanding while enquiries are conducted into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
