Woman named following fatal collision in Bungay

A woman who died following a road traffic collision in Bungay is being named by police.

Officers were called just before 3pm on Tuesday 28 May, to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a HGV vehicle on St John’s Road in the town, near to the junction of Hillside Road West.

Sheila Ann Holmes, aged 74 and from Bungay, was the cyclist involved and sadly died at the scene.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and remains under investigation pending further enquiries.

Bungay fatal collision arrest update - 30/05/19

A man who was arrested following a fatal road traffic collision in Bungay has been released from police custody pending further enquires.

Officers were called just before 3pm on Tuesday 28 May, to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a HGV vehicle on St John’s Road in the town, near to the junction of Hillside Road West.

Ambulance crews were also in attendance but the cyclist, a woman in her 70s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 35–year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has now been released under investigation.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101 quoting reference CAD 188 of 28 May.

Bungay – Man arrested following fatal road traffic collision - 29/05/19

A man has been arrested following a fatal road traffic collision in Bungay.

Police were called by the ambulance service at just before 3pm yesterday, Tuesday 28 May, to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a HGV vehicle on St John’s Road in the town, near to the junction of Hillside Road West.

The cyclist, a woman in her 70s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow for an investigation into the circumstances of the collision to take place and reopened at approximately 9pm.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he remains.

Any witnesses to the collision, or the manner of driving prior to the incident, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101, quoting reference CAD 188 of 28 May.

Bungay – Fatal road traffic collision - 28/05/19

A woman has died following a road traffic collision in Bungay.

Police were called by the ambulance service at just before 3:00pm today, Tuesday 28 May, to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a HGV vehicle on St John’s Road in the town, near to the junction of Hillside Road West.

The cyclist, a woman, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

The road remains closed at this time to allow an investigation into the circumstances of the collision to continue and local diversions have been put in place.
