Suspected arson incidents in Lowestoft

Police officer

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after several incidents of suspected arson in Lowestoft.

The incidents are all believed to have occurred overnight on Tuesday 23 into Wednesday 24 July, with offenders targeting wheelie bins, garden waste, general household waste and a fence panel.

At approximately 10:20pm on Tuesday, police received report of a fire in the garden of a residence in Hill Road. Further reports overnight suggested similar incidents of suspected arson in neighbouring roads, including St Peter’s Street, Normanston Drive and Rotterdam Road.

Police are reminding the public that deliberate fires is a crime that will not be tolerated, and are encouraging parents and carers to speak to their children about the dangers and consequences of playing with fire.

Witnesses or anybody who saw anything suspicious in the areas mentioned above, or surrounding roads, are asked to contact the East CID team at Suffolk Police, quoting reference 37/4387419.
