Distraction burglary appeal in Bury St Edmunds

Police are appealing for witnesses to a reported distraction burglary that took place in Bury St Edmunds.

It happened at some point between Monday 26 August at 6.40pm and 7.55am on Tuesday 27 August at a property on The Vinefields.

An unknown person entered the property where a female in his late 70s resides. The suspect then stole a metal black safe and its cash contents. It had been secured to the wall and floor inside a hallway cupboard. The incident was subsequently reported by a carer who made a routine visit to the victim in the morning,

Enquiries into the incident continue and anyone with information is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID, quoting crime reference 37/51334/19.
