Newton – Man dies after serious road traffic collision

Police can confirm that a man has died following a serious road traffic collision last week.

Officers were called at 8:40am on Thursday 19 September to reports of collision on the A1071, Boxford Lane, Newton near to the junction with the A134. The incident involved a KTM motorcycle and three other vehicles – a Vauxhall Astra car, a Ford Transit van and a Mercedes E250 car.

The motorcyclist, Paul Dawes aged 36 years old from the local area, was taken by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has now sadly died as a result of the injuries sustained.

Any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured any relevant dash-cam footage of the manner of driving, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit by quoting CAD 48 of 19 September.
