Man charged following Newmarket burglaries


Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with burglaries in Newmarket.

It follows an incident at a butcher’s shop on Wellington Street at some point between Wednesday 17 July at 5pm and Thursday 18 July on 7.25am where the shop was broken into.

A 46-year-old man was arrested yesterday (23 July) on suspicion of burglary and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Jason Spearman of Sillhill Close in Newmarket has been charged with three counts of burglary. One incident where 10 chromebooks were stolen from Coracle Online in the High Street  at some point between 14 June and 17 June, an incident on 17 June at Bouquets on the High Street where £275 in cash was stolen and Powters butchers on Wellington Street on where two laptops, a CCTV camera and quantities of meat were stolen at some point between 17 July and 18 July.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Thursday 25 July at 10am.
