Haverhill drug arrests

Police car

Police have arrested two people in connection with drug activity in Haverhill.

On Wednesday 17 July officers had reason to stop and search the occupants of a Honda Civic at Greenfields Way in the town.

The occupants of a Honda Civic were stopped and searched by the garage block adjacent to Ickleton Place and Linton Place. A quantity of cash and a suspected wrap of drugs were recovered.

A 36 year old female and  a 15 year old man were arrested on suspicion of  possession with intent to supply drugs.  Both were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

The 15 year old was released under investigation pending further investigation while the woman was charged.

Kerry Pryce of Chester Court in Haverhill, was charged with six counts of shoplifting in Haverhill that took place between 10 July and 25 July. She appeared in Ipswich Magistrates court on 18 July and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison.

Elsewhere, on the same day officers conducted a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act following intelligence received at an address in Hazel Close in the town.

Although the search of the premises resulted in nothing of note being recovered officers are continuing their proactive work in the town.

Enquiries are ongoing and the public can still expect to see reassurance patrols remain in the Haverhill area over the coming days.
