Ipswich – Post-mortem inconclusive following sudden death

A Home Office post-mortem examination carried out on the body of a baby has proved inconclusive with further tests needing to be conducted.

Officers were called by the East of England Ambulance Service, shortly after 10.15am on Tuesday 22 October, to reports of a medical emergency at an address in Bulstrode Road.

The baby was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

The post-mortem was carried out on Friday 25 October and the death of the baby remains unexplained at this time.

As a result of subsequent enquiries connected to the investigation, a woman in her 20s was arrested by police and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where she was questioned. She was released on bail and is due to return to police on Tuesday 19 November.

A woman arrested following the death of a baby at an address in Ipswich has been bailed by police.

Officers were called by the East of England Ambulance Service, shortly after 10.15am yesterday, Tuesday 22 October, to reports of a medical emergency at an address in Bulstrode Road.

The baby was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

A police scene remains in place while an investigation into the circumstances of the death continues.

The death of the baby remains unexplained.

As a result of subsequent enquiries connected to the investigation, a woman in her 20s was arrested by police and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where she was questioned. She has now been released on bail and is due to return to police on Tuesday 19 November.

Police have launched an investigation after the sudden death of a baby at an address in Ipswich.
 
Officers were called by the East of England Ambulance Service, shortly after 10.15am today, Tuesday 22 October, to reports of a medical emergency at an address in Bulstrode Road.

The baby was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased. 

Next of kin have been informed.

A police scene is in place while an investigation into the circumstances of the death continues. 

The death is currently being treated as unexplained. As a result of subsequent enquiries connected to the investigation, a woman in her 20s has been arrested by police. She has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where she will be questioned.
