Henley – Fail to stop collision
Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Henley where a vehicle failed to stop.
The incident occurred just before 2.15pm yesterday afternoon, Thursday 21 May, between the junction of Clay Lane with Ashbocking Road and Hare and Hounds Corner, at the junction with the B1078.
A grey Peugeot 206 was turning in the road close to Hare and Hounds Corner, when it was struck by a white Ford Luton van, with a rear tailgate.
The Peugeot was caused to spin around, colliding with a telegraph pole and then going into a ditch.
The driver was briefly knocked unconscious and is suffering from whiplash injuries and an eight-year-old backseat passenger required hospital treatment after sustaining a broken nose, whilst also suffering with a severe headache, sickness and neck pain.
The van failed to stop and continued driving towards the centre of the village and in the general direction of Ipswich, though could also have turned up Clay Lane towards Main Road and the junction with Bell’s Cross Road (next to the Cross Keys PH).
The van is believed to have sustained extensive damage to the front offside and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has seen a vehicle which has recently been damaged in this way.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in that area yesterday afternoon, either immediately before or after the collision, and who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle.
Anyone with information that they believe could assist officers with their enquiries, is asked to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team at Police Headquarters, quoting reference: CAD 213 of 21 May.
