Man dies in A12 Copdock collision

Police can confirm that a man has died following a serious road traffic collision on the A12 yesterday (Saturday 21 March).

It follows a collision at 1.37pm between a white and blue HGV lorry and a silver Alfa Romeo on the northbound carriageway, just prior to the Copdock roundabout.

The driver of the Alfa Romeo, a man in his 80s, and the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene. The male driver of lorry was unhurt.

The northbound carriageway was shut until the early evening while emergency services cleared the road and carried out their initial investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses dash-cam footage of the incident is asked to contact Suffolk police, quoting CAD 166 of 21 March 2020.
