Police have charged a man in connection with an incident that took place in Ipswich.

It took place on Thursday 17 October at about 7.45pm when a male victim was cycling along the footpath on West End Road.

An offender grabbed a 34 year old victim demanding money and punched him to the face. 

Later the same evening a man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken to Marltesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

23 year old Sheridan Melville of no fixed abode was subsequently charged with robbery, assault on a police officer and theft.

He was remanded to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Saturday 18 October where he was further remanded in custody pending a future court appearance.
