Ipswich – Four people charged with Class A drugs offences

A woman and three teenagers have appeared in court after being charged with Class A drugs offences in Ipswich.

During the afternoon of Sunday 17 September, officers were conducting patrols on the Chantry estate after receiving reports of possible activity connected to drug-dealing in the area.

At around 1.25pm police had cause to enter a property in Pelican Close and following searches of the property and individuals found inside, a significant quantity of Class A drugs were seized, estimated to be in excess of 300 wraps. A large amount of cash was also recovered.

Four people were subsequently arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. They have all been charged with the following two offences: being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine; and being concerned in the supply of heroin.

All four appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Tuesday 19 September, and their details are as follows:

Marquitta McKenzie, aged 32, of Pelican Close, Ipswich. She was remanded into custody pending a next appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday 19 October

 A 16-year-old boy of no fixed abode. He was remanded into the care of the local authority and will appear before Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 27 September.

 A 16-year-old girl from Redbridge in north London; and a 16-year-old girl from Waltham Forest in north London. They were both released on bail pending a next appearance at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 18 October.
