Absconder from Hollesley Bay prison detained

A 35-year-old prisoner who absconded from Hollesley Bay has been arrested.

Darren Weinling had been missing since Friday 19 July, but was detained just after 12pm today, Sunday 21 July, by officers from Essex Police on the A12.

He has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, from where he will be returned to the prison system.

Suffolk Police would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance with this appeal.

Police are appealing for help in tracing a prisoner from Hollesley Bay who has absconded.

Darren Weinling, aged 35, had been arrested on a recall in relation to a threat to kill offence.

He is described as white, 6ft tall, short brown hair and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue top, blue tracksuit trousers and black trainers.

Darren has links to Ipswich and London and may be in the Woodbridge area.

Members of the public should not approach him and any sightings should be reported to Suffolk Police on 101.
